Birth

Register a Birth

In Alberta, parents must register their child’s birth with the Alberta government. For more information on registering, visit the Service Alberta Website.

Certificates

When ordering an Alberta Birth Certificate, you will need to complete the appropriate form found on the Service Alberta website and bring it with you to our office with acceptable identification. Additionally, you can order a birth certificate for your child up until 1 year of age through your Alberta.ca account.

Marriage

Licences

If you are getting married in Alberta within the next 3 months, both you and your partner will need to visit a Drayden Registry location together for your marriage licence.

You will need to bring the following:

  • Acceptable I.D. for both individuals.
    • Valid Passport
    • Valid Driver’s Licence or Identification card
    • Valid Permanent Resident Card
    • Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS)
    • other forms of ID
  • If you have been divorced you must bring your original final divorce “certificate” or “Decree Absolute”.
  • Completed Marriage Licence Application
  • Due to the length of time it takes to complete a marriage licence, we would appreciate you arriving in office at least 1 hour prior to our closing time.

Certificates

When ordering an Alberta Marriage Certificate, you will need to complete the appropriate form found on the Service Alberta website and bring it with you to our office with acceptable identification.

Death Certificates

When ordering an Alberta death certificate you will need to complete the appropriate form found on the Service Alberta website and bring it with you to our office along with acceptable identification. Please read through the form carefully, as additional paperwork proving eligibility may be required.

Legal Changes of Name

Application

A legal change of name is required when you wish to alter the name that appears on your birth registration. This is not required when you are assuming a new last name through marriage or common-law relationship.

Please visit us in office with the completed Legal Change of Name Application and the required documents listed on the Service Alberta website to legally change your birth name.

Certificate

Once you have completed legally changing your name in Alberta you can order a replacement birth certificate if you are born in Alberta or if born outside of Alberta you can order a Legal Change of Name Certificate.

When ordering a Legal Change of Name Certificate you will need to complete the appropriate form found on the Service Alberta website and bring it with you to our office along with acceptable identification

Acceptable ID

For the services above you will need to provide Acceptable Photo Identification which includes:

  • Valid Passport
  • Permanent Resident Card
  • Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS)
  • Valid Driver’s Licence or Identification Card
  • Other forms of ID
