Acceptable Identification
All Identification must be valid and original.
Identification must have a recordable number and include a photo, name, and date of birth.
Some examples include (not an all inclusive list):
- Provincial Driving Licence
- Department of National Defence Drivers Licence
- Municipal, Territorial, Provincial or Federal Government Employee Card
- Passport
If you do not have any of the above, you can provide us with:
- Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate or Civil Marriage Statement, Legal Change of Name Certificate
- Canadian Citizenship Certificate (issued after February 1, 2012)
- Chequing or Saving Account Statement
- Cancelled Cheque with imprinted name and Alberta address
- Utility, Telephone (land or cell), Gas or Cable TV bill in client’s name
- Property tax bill or receipt, land title or mortgage documents
- Income Tax receipts
- Insurance policy documents (life, auto, residential, etc)
- Refugee Protection Claimant document
- Study Permit
- Government Assistance document
Some examples of unacceptable support documents are:
- Interim/temporary drivers licence
- Bank or Credit Cards
- Business cards
- Cheque cashing cards
- Library card
- Video club membership cards
- Financial responsibility insurance cards (pink cards)
- Costco Cards
Proof of Alberta Residency
Must be in applicant’s name and show the current address.
All items MUST be less than 90 days old.
- Current Utility, phone, Gas or Cable Bill.
- Current bank and/or credit card statements.
- Mortgage documents or residential lease containing a client’s physical address.
- Income tax assessment summary.
- Written confirmation of employment (on company letterhead, including contact name and telephone number, and signed within the last 15 days).
- Written confirmation from an educational institution in Alberta indicating dependents are attending school full time.
- Alberta Social benefits documents.
- Land Title documents.
Proof of Legal Presence In Canada
Must be an original document.
- Valid Canadian passport.
- Original Provincial/Territorial Government issued birth certificate.
- Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS) card (Federal Government issued).
- Record of Landing.
- Permanent Resident Card.
- Canadian Citizenship Certificate.
- Valid Work Permit or Study Permit (Federal Government issued)
